I've spent most of my life
traveling. Apart from different cities in the United States, I've lived in
Tokyo, Japan, Scotland, and more recently I spent 11 years in Germany where I
furthered my education as a foreign correspondent. I've been back in the States
since 1996 and have been practicing real estate ever since.

restaurants. |

I love eating out with my
friends. Just ask me about
wonderful restaurants
in Chicago and Evanston!
My cats, Lucy (black and
white) and Laura (all black) keep me on my toes at home. The little angels
are more often than not - little devils! But I love them! They are littermates
from the Evanston animal shelter. If you are looking for a house pet, please
check your animal shelter first. There are so many loving animals in search of
new homes!
Whether it is for real
estate, surfing the web, shopping or playing games, I'll be doing it on the
computer. This is what I usually look like!
I love going on spontaneous
road trips. I recently made a trip to beautiful and charming Galena,
Illinois, home of General Grant. See
Galena!
When I'm feeling active I
either run along a path by the lake or I take kickboxing classes at our local
YMCA. Find your local YMCA.
Watching movies, videos, and
dvd's is one of my favorite pastimes. See

I love to read books and
still read books in German. I just order those from Barnes & Noble,
Borders, or Amazon.com.
Jog on the soft path or
bike and rollerblade along the smooth path by beautiful Lake Michigan.

I have two older sisters and
one older brother. This is the middle sister, Dr. Sue Redpath, who is a
veterinarian in California. We e-mail her with all our pet queries.

Remodeling and Renovations >Damp Environments
If you are a typical home buyer, you are likely to eliminate a home with a basement that has water stains or mildew on the walls or floors. Before you completely rule out a home that you really like because of a water issue, you should get an expert's opinion.
A basement can often be dried out easily. A new set of gutters, repairs to a plugged up outdoor drain, or simple regrading of soil around the foundation may solve the problem. A home inspector or water-proofing company can give you an idea about what is causing the dampness, as well as how much you will have to pay to waterproof the area. Sometimes the home owner will consider negotiating the repair costs with the buyers, especially if the alternative is no offer at all. If the house is a "fixer-upper" and priced accordingly, you could get an excellent value that more timid buyers might pass up.
